What is a linear bearing?

Linear bearings are a linear motion system used for linear travel, used with cylindrical shafts.

Since the load-bearing ball is in point contact with the bearing jacket, the steel ball rolls with minimal frictional resistance. Therefore, the linear bearing has the characteristics of low friction, relatively stable, and does not change with the bearing speed, and can obtain smooth linear motion with high sensitivity and high precision.

Linear bearings also have their limitations. The most important thing is that the bearing has poor impact load capacity and poor load-bearing capacity. Secondly, linear bearings have greater vibration and noise during high-speed movement.

Linear bearings are widely used in precision equipment such as tensile testing machines and digital three-dimensional coordinate measuring equipment, and in industrial machinery such as multi-axis machine tools, punch machines, tool grinders, automatic gas cutting machines, printers, card sorting machines, and food packaging machines. It also has a wide range of applications.

What are the tolerance levels of linear bearings?

 

The tolerance level of linear bearings is also the accuracy level, which is generally divided into levels 0, 6, 6X, 5, 4, and 2. The tolerance level is from low to high.

Each tolerance level of linear bearings has different requirements in terms of size, rotation and appearance quality. The higher the level, the stricter the requirements and the more perfect the product's performance. The price of the product will also be higher. (The old tolerance grade codes are G, E, Ex, D, C, and B).

The existence of clearance in linear bearings is to ensure that linear bearings can operate flexibly and without hindrance, and at the same time, it is required to ensure smooth operation of linear bearings.

There is no direct relationship between the accuracy grade of linear bearings and the clearance of linear bearings. The radial clearance of radial linear bearings is generally divided into groups C2, C0, C3, C4 and C5. The numerical range of clearance is from small to large.

Theoretically, each group of clearances can be selected for each tolerance level of linear bearings, but the selection of clearance groups must be based on the specific working conditions, the temperature of the use site, the load, and the configuration of the linear bearings. Only by choosing can the various precision functions of linear bearings be realized.

For example, products with a lower precision level can have a larger clearance group, while higher-precision products have smaller clearances or even negative clearances.

How to store linear bearings?

1. Requirements for storage location

Bearings are generally placed in warehouses, but the relative humidity in the warehouse is required not to exceed 60%, the room temperature is around 25 degrees, and the temperature difference cannot be too large. Moreover, it is best not to put corrosive things such as acids, alkalis, and salts, as well as chemical raw materials and high-moisture objects in the warehouse. The storage location should avoid direct sunlight, have good ventilation and a clean environment.

2. Storage method requirements

Different linear bearing products have different storage methods, and incorrect methods can also have adverse effects on the bearings. It is best to place small bearings flat on a shelf about 30cm above the ground. Large rolling bearings cannot be placed in a vertical position. Due to uneven force, the bearings will be permanently deformed, so they must be stored in a horizontal position.

3. Requirements before storage

It is very important to check whether the outer packaging is intact before storing linear bearings. If the outer packaging of the bearing is damaged before storage, problems will occur even if the storage conditions are good, which will affect the quality of the linear bearing. Once the outer packaging is found to be defective, it should be repackaged immediately
