Nitrile rubber:

Nitrile rubber is a common sealing material. It is a rubber synthesized from acrylonitrile and butadiene. It has good resistance to the following media.

Most mineral oils and mineral oil-based greases

General fuels such as gasoline, diesel and light heating oil

Animal oils, vegetable oils and fats

  Hot water

Nitrile rubber seals also allow the bearing to run without oil for short periods of time. The allowable operating temperature range is -40 to 100°C. It can withstand temperatures up to 120°C for a short period of time. But it is not suitable to run at higher temperature, because the nitrile rubber will harden.

Hydrogenated nitrile rubber

HNBR has more wear-resistant properties than nitrile rubber, so the seals made of this material have a longer working life. In addition, hydrogenated nitrile rubber has stronger resistance to heat, aging and hardening in hot oil or ozone. Hydrogenated nitrile rubber allows a maximum working temperature of 150°C, which is much higher than that of nitrile rubber.

  fluororubber

The main characteristics of fluorine rubber are high temperature resistance and chemical corrosion resistance, and good anti-aging and anti-ozone properties, and the gas permeability is also very low. Even under very harsh working conditions, fluororubber still has excellent wear resistance. It can withstand operating temperatures of 200°C or below. Seals made of this material allow the bearing to run without oil for short periods of time.

Viton also has excellent resistance to various media including oil and hydraulic oil, fuel oil, lubricants, inorganic acids, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, etc. Viton should not be used in the presence of compounds such as esters, ethers, ketones, certain amines and high temperature anhydrous hydrogen fluoride. If the seals made of fluorine rubber are exposed to open flame or high temperature above 300 ℃, it will be harmful to health and environment! Even when cooled, they are dangerous.

Seals are important for lubricant cleanliness and bearing life.

The role of the seal is to prevent the loss of lubricant and prevent contamination from entering the space that needs to be protected.

  Seals have the following properties:

Have sufficient deformation capacity to compensate for irregular surfaces

Have enough strength to withstand the pressure of work

Capable of withstanding a wide operating temperature range

  Chemical Resistance

Operates with minimal friction, frictional heat and wear

What material are bearing seals made of?

Bearings with shields or seals on both sides are already filled with grease and generally require no maintenance.

Shielded bearings are suitable for applications in dry conditions and relatively clean operating conditions. Dust caps are also suitable for applications requiring low friction, such as high rotational speeds or high temperatures.

The dust cover is generally made of metal.

What material is the bearing seal made of?

Bearings with contact seals are suitable for applications with a general degree of contamination, moisture or humidity, or where long service life and long-term maintenance-free conditions are required. Seals are generally made of rubber.
