The Method Of Preventing Blowout When Splitting Bearing Ring Wire Cutting

Split bearings are used in bearing applications where they are not easy to be installed and disassembled. Split bearing rings are split by wire cutting after fine grinding.Wire cutting is mainly used for processing various shapes of complex and precise workpieces, with small processing allowance, high processing accuracy, short production cycle, low manufacturing cost outstanding advantages, suitable for small batch, many varieties of parts processing.Due to the brittleness and internal stress of the ring after quenching, coupled with the cutting stress and cutting effect of the ring, the ring burst when it is about to be cut out, which increases the reject rate of the product and affects the production schedule and product quality. 

After many calculations and tests, a method of line cutting for dividing bearing was put forward, which prevented the ring from bursting during line cutting and eliminated the waste products produced in the process of line cutting.The wire cutting processing method is shown in Figure 1. The specific processing process is as follows:

1) cut the tungsten wire from the inner diameter direction of the ring wall thickness 2/5;

2) move the tungsten wire to the other side of the inner diameter of 180° and then cut 2/5 of the wall thickness;

3) move the tungsten wire to 2/5 of the outer diameter cut wall thickness;

4) move the tungsten wire to the other side of the outer diameter of 180° until cut (due to the effect of internal stress, the tungsten wire cut to a certain position will automatically disconnect, including the 1/5 of the side has not been cut, if there is no natural disconnect, can be further cut).


By calculating the wall thickness of the bearing ring, the wall thickness of each step is reasonably allocated, and the sequence of the cutting time is strictly controlled, the bearing product quality and production efficiency are improved, which can be used as a reference for cutting other ring parts.
