How to test the insulation of bearings?

2023-11-03

Insulation resistance is a key technical indicator of insulated bearings and must be tested 100% during factory inspection. Ensure that the insulation resistance value under DC1000V is not less than 100MΩ. When testing the insulation resistance, it is necessary to simulate the installation conditions of the bearing and accurately measure the insulation resistance value to ensure the insulation performance of the bearing and meet the usage requirements.

If good contact between the conductive medium and the insulating coating cannot be ensured, the weak point with the smallest insulation resistance may be missed, causing the weak point of insulation resistance to be broken down and cause electrical corrosion failure during the use of the bearing.

Test insulation steps:

1. The bearing is covered with a conductive medium (such as copper strip, aluminum foil, etc.) outside the bearing for measurement. Bearing manufacturing companies often use this method. However, since good contact between the metal conductive medium and the insulating coating cannot be guaranteed during the measurement process, the test The results are not precise enough;

2. Press the insulated bearing into the bearing seat for measurement. Bearing users often use this method. Since press-fitting will cause damage to the appearance of the bearing, it is not suitable for bearing manufacturers to conduct a full inspection.
