1. No mechanical contact: Electromagnetic bearings use electric field force and magnetic field force to levitate the shaft, so there is no direct mechanical contact between the shaft and the bearing. This makes the electromagnetic bearings non-wearing and non-lubricating, and can be used in many fields such as vacuum systems, sterile environments, marine environments, corrosive or high-purity media transmission, etc., and is especially suitable for some extreme conditions.

2. High rotation speed: Since there is no mechanical contact, the rotation speed of the electromagnetic bearing is very high, which is mainly limited by the strength of the material. Under the same journal diameter, the rotor of an electromagnetic bearing can achieve a rotational speed about 5 times higher than a rolling bearing, about 2.5 times higher than a hydrodynamic sliding bearing, and 1.5 times higher than a sliding bearing. The rotation speed of some electromagnetic bearings is even as high as 23 million rpm, and the linear speed is as high as 3 times the speed of sound.

3. Low power consumption: Electromagnetic bearings have no mechanical contact and almost no friction, so power consumption is very low. For example, when the rotation speed is 10,000 rpm, its power consumption is only about 15% of that of mechanical bearings, and only about 17% of that of hydrodynamic sliding bearings.

4. Long life: There is no contact between the journal of the electromagnetic bearing and the relative motion surface of the bearing, and there is no life problem caused by wear and contact fatigue. In addition, the reliability of electronic components of electromagnetic bearings is also higher than that of mechanical parts, so their lifespan and reliability are much higher than traditional bearings.

5. No lubrication required: Electromagnetic bearings do not require lubrication, so there is no problem of environmental pollution caused by lubricants. In applications such as vacuum, radiation, and prohibition of lubricant medium contamination, electromagnetic bearings have more advantages.

6. Low maintenance cost: Since the electromagnetic bearing has no contact and no wear, the maintenance cost is very low. Its service life is actually the life of the control circuit and mechanical components. Through redundant design or replacement of the control circuit, the service life can be theoretically increased.
