The inner and outer rings of tapered roller bearings have tapered raceways, and the rollers are also tapered. If the tapered surface is extended, its vertex intersects at a point on the bearing axis. Therefore, the roller of tapered roller bearings can achieve pure rolling on the raceway.
Tapered roller bearings belong to separation bearings. The inner component of the bearing (composed of rollers, cages, and inner rings) and the outer ring can be separated. Therefore, it can be easily installed on the journal and bearing seat.
Tapered roller bearings are suitable for bearing radial load, unidirectional axial load, and combined radial and axial load. The axial load capacity of tapered roller bearings depends on the contact Angle α, that is, the outer ring raceway Angle. The larger the contact Angle α is, the greater the axial load capacity will be.
Generally, tapered roller bearings are not allowed to have Angle error, but the surface of the roller and raceway can be allowed to have an Angle error of 2 '~ 4' after special design.
Tapered roller bearings manufactured in addition to the metric series, there are also English series. The designation and dimensions of the metric series are in accordance with the requirements of the IS355:1977 (E) standard and the British series in accordance with the requirements of the AFBMA standard.
According to the number of roller rows, Tapered roller bearings manufactured by TG have different structural forms such as a single row, double row, and four-row.
Single row tapered roller bearings
Single row tapered roller bearings can bear axial load in one direction. And the axial displacement of the shaft relative to the bearing pedestal in one direction can be limited. Even under the pure radial load, tapered roller bearings will produce additional axial component forces inside, at this time, there needs to be an equal amount of reverse force to balance with it. Usually, two single row tapered roller bearings of the same structure are installed face to face or back to back in two supports.
Installed in pairs
Single-row tapered roller bearings can also be used in pairs, such as face-to-face or back-to-back configurations.
Tapered roller bearings with stopper edge
Tapered roller bearings with stop flaps, the outer ring with stop flaps, the inner assembly is the same as the inner assembly of single row tapered roller bearings. Tapered roller bearings with stopper can be axially positioned in the bearing pedestal and simplify the configuration design of the bearing and the structure of the bearing pedestal.
Double row tapered roller bearings
Double row tapered roller bearings can bear bidirectional axial load as well as a radial load. The clearance has been adjusted before the product leaves the factory, so it can be installed and used directly without adjusting the clearance. Double row tapered roller bearings can limit the axial displacement of the bearing relative to the bearing pedestal in two directions within the axial clearance range of the bearing.
Four rows of tapered roller bearings
The performance of four-row tapered roller bearings is basically the same as that of double-row tapered roller bearings, but the capacity of bearing radial load is greater than that of double-row tapered roller bearings. Limit speed is low, mainly used for heavy machineries, such as rolling mills.

Tapered roller bearings are generally pressed with steel plates and cages with glass fiber reinforced poly nylon 66 can also be provided. For larger taper roller bearing cages, steel pillars can also be used to weld solid cages.
The smaller the load
In order to ensure the bearing obtain a good operating state, tapered roller bearings, like other ball bearings and roller bearings, must be applied a certain amount of small load, especially for high speed, high acceleration, or work under the condition of frequent changes in the direction of load. Because of these working conditions, the inertial force of the roller and the cage and the friction in the lubricant will have a bad effect on the rolling and rotating accuracy of the bearing, and there may be harmful sliding movement on the bearing between the roller and the raceway.
The small load Fmin required by tapered roller bearings can be estimated by the following formula:

Larger smaller loads may be required when starting at low temperatures or when the lubricant viscosity is high. Normally, the weight of the bearing support itself plus the load borne by the bearing has exceeded the required small load.If the small load has not been reached, the additional radial load must be applied to this type of bearing, such as axial pre-tightening to meet the requirements of the small load.
Dimensions, tolerances, clearance
The external dimensions of standard Angle tapered roller bearings conform to GB/T273.1 "General Scheme for External Dimension of Rolling Bearing Tapered roller bearings", GB/T297 "External Dimension of Rolling Bearing Tapered roller bearings", GB/T299 "External Dimension of Rolling Bearing Double-row Tapered roller bearings", GB/T300 "Four rows of External Dimension of Rolling Bearing Tapered roller bearings" Dimensions and so on.
The tolerance of standard tapered roller conforms to the provisions of GB/T307.1 "Rolling Bearing Centripetal Bearing Tolerances".
The clearance of tapered roller bearings, single row tapered roller bearings is obtained by adjusting the position of the outer ring and inner components in the axial direction during installation, and another position used to provide the reverse axial positioning bearing. When the clearance is adjusted, the bearing must be rotated repeatedly to ensure that the roller and the inner ring guide guard are in a good contact position. The clearance value can be selected by the customer according to the requirements of different working conditions of the bearing. However, when selecting the clearance, it should be noted that too much clearance will weaken the bearing capacity, while too little clearance will lead to excessive friction and rising operating temperature. The better adjustment of clearance value can be judged on the basis of low working temperature, small vibration, and high rotation precision of bearings. The clearance of double and four-row tapered roller bearings has been adjusted by manufacturing before the products leave the factory, and customers can install and use them directly.
The dimensional tolerance class of standard tapered roller bearings is generally manufactured according to P0 (ordinary class). If customers have other special requirements on the dimension, tolerance, and clearance (including non-standard), TG can provide corresponding products.
